About Ed Barsley
Ed Barsley is founder of ''The Environmental Design Studio'' (TEDS), an award winning design-research led practice. His practice won the Sunday Times ‘Resilient Home’ design competition, with the ‘Home For All Seasons’. Ed speaks regularly at flooding conferences and events worldwide, runs the RIBA’s seminar series on flooding and is releasing a book entitled, ‘Retrofitting for Flood Resilience: A Guide to Building & Community Design’. In parallel to his practice Ed has been involved with a number of research council funded studies on flooding including his PhD at the University of Cambridge on flood resilient architecture and the communication of risk.
This seminar introduces a range of new and novel tools and techniques for communicating flood risk and resilience. This includes key findings from the ‘Flood Narratives’ study, run by TEDS, the EA, PHE and the University of Cambridge. The seminar concludes with a special showcase of the speakers’ forthcoming RIBA publication on flooding entitled; ‘Retrofitting for Flood Resilience: A Guide to Building & Community Design’.
