Where next for the Flood Map for Planning?
About Dave Jones
Dave Jones is a technical advisor in the Environment Agency’s National Flood & Coastal Risk Management Planning and Regulation team. He is the product manager for the new Flood Map for Planning service on gov.uk.
He has almost 40 years’ experience in flood risk management working for Severn Trent and Thames Water Authorities, the National Rivers Authority and the Environment Agency.
For over twenty years he provided flood risk advice on development planning and permitting direct to developers, farmers and members of the public. He has subsequently advised on the application of flood risk planning guidance in England and Wales; the review of the Flood Defence Consent regime and preparation for its subsequent move in to the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
He is now exploring the potential to provide more detailed flood risk advice directly to provide a one stop shop for information for those engaged in the development planning process.
This seminar will describe the development of the new Flood Map for Planning service from the original ‘What’s in your backyard’ service to the public service now available on gov.uk. It will set out our vision to develop a one-stop shop service for development and flood risk advice. The seminar is intended to prompt discussion and participation in user research and testing to shape the future of the service.
